Q) Why do you charge for this site?
A) One of our main goals here is to make artists (particularly comic book artists) aware that they are worth something. Comic book artists are the low man on the art totem pole. In fact no other form of art is taken advantage of and abused as much as comic art. There are plenty of web sites out there that will happily let you post your art - the art you worked hours on - on their site and not pay you but instead make money off of you and even charge you for the "convenience". We think that is wrong and absurd. You would never see a professional musician post there music on a site that charges them for the privilege. If you were a mechanic you wouldn't do it for free. If you were cook you wouldn't give away your top recipes. Many artists are so eager for the opportunity just to have their art seen by someone else that they forgot and/or didn't feel entitled to ask to be compensated. By supporting this site you are supporting artists - plain and simple. You are saying that someone's hard work is worth something and to an artist that means a lot. We are creating jobs and opportunities for people that deserve to be compensated for their time and energy. We are one of the only web sites out that that respect an artist enough to pay them. It's time that artists realize their worth.
Q) How I do cancel my subscription?
A) Go to
CCBill.com and on their front page you can enter your information and change/ cancel you account.
Q) I do artwork also, may I submit a tutorial?A) Yes. Please use our
job section and fill out the information under Tutorials to be considered for a position with us. Not every one who applies will be picked but we do our best to find an artists strength and let them showcase that.
Q) Why are some of the contest limited to the United States and Canada?
A) Due to several laws about shipping hardware and software overseas we have decided to limit hardware/software contest to only the USA, Canada and Mexico (depending on what the contest prize is) regardless of whether the manufacture of said hardware/software ship internationally or not.
Q) Can I use my affiliate account/links on deviantArt?
A) DeviantArt has a policy in their TOS that forbids links that have a click-through setting of any kind so the short answer is no. You can still link to the site but unfortunately not using your webmaster/affiliate account.
You can try
POLITELY asking them for permission. We do our best to stay in contact with deviantArt and other art sites, and cooperate with them to try and change this. Don't forget that if you have a blog, personal web site that you manage or anywhere else that allows linking (even in emails but no spamming) you can still be an affiliate.
Q) Can I hire an artist for commission work?A) Of course! Most of our artists work based off of commission but
DO NOT use the contact form on this site to do so. You must contact the artist directly through their personal contact information, web site or deviantArt page located in the "Browse by Artist" section of the site. All commission requests that come through our contact page will be ignored. We may develop a commission section for the site at a later time.
Q) Can I suggest a tutorial I'd like to see?
A) Yes but only our Beta Members will be able to suggest tutorials in our members sections.
DO NOT use the about us/contact page to suggest tutorials. We take the top requested tutorial suggestions and do those first.
Q) I didn't understand a part of a tutorial can the artist explain it to me?A) We're sorry but due to time restraints we cannot answer every email that pertains to things that specific. Now if we get multiple emails on the same subject or multiple suggestions about it we will address it and create a new tutorial to help clear up anything confusing.
Q) I heard you have secret contests/giveaways. Is that true?
A) Shhhh... Don't tell anyone but yes. Sometimes we randomly pick someone who didn't win in a previous contest and send them something. Usually a piece of art or art supplies. We believe in being generous and giving back to all the wonderful people who have supported us.
Q) How do you pick artists for the site?
A) There are several criteria for picking artists for the site but mainly we find out what the artist wants to do, then rip through their portfolio and see if what they want to do actually matches up with their strengths and talent. Then finally we see if they can follow direction. It sounds silly but the truth is most people fail for nothing more than not being able to follow specific directions. We have standards for tutorials and comics and if an artist cannot seem to adhere to them we don't choose them.
Q) What's the length of time between applying to do tutorials or comics and getting hired?
A) This depends on many factors like how many people we just hired previously, if the new artist is going to do tutorials that are being requested versus tutorials that we may not need, how many millions of applications we have to sift through or dependant on the budget for new artists. If hired typically a week or two in most situations.
