About Us
ComicTutorials.com was founded in 2006 by Kevin Griffith with the intent of being the premier destination for bringing quality tutorials to artists ready and willing to improve on their existing personal style or artists wanting to learn to draw as a beginner.
The philosophy is simple: bring people what they can't get from going out and buying an art book. Bring people as close as we can to the learning of art. ComicTutorials.com is dedicated to not only showing technique but explaining the underlined psychology of what makes great art. Not focusing on the needs of major comic publishers but the needs of the individual artist helped changed the pace, instruction and purpose of the site. ComicTutorials.com wants artists to go where their art takes them. Being true to yourself and your talent is the key to success.
Artists rule the world, from the clothes on your back to the food you eat and the house you live in. But unfortunately not enough places pay artists for their talents. There are plenty of web sites for artist to upload their art and watch the site make money off of it or worse - charge you for the priviledge, but not enough places where the talent is respected and there for compensated. ComicTutorials.com wants to change that. It's time for the artist to not only get their due and credit but also be paid for contributing their talent. It is very important to us that artists start to realize what they are worth and help foster more business-minded artists to help them make a living at this.
As a policy ComicTutorials.com does not discriminate based on work history. Meaning we hire "underground" artists (artists that create work for lesser known companies or just for fun and personal use), as well as established professional artists. We believe that great art and inspiration can come from anywhere and shouldn't be bound by who's name you have on your resume.
After studying what was lacking in the comic art community and watching styles and trends take off the site finally launched in early 2010 with critical acclaim and roughly 15 professional and underground artists at start.
"We are committed to bringing in depth instruction on comic style art to the people. We are driven to provide more of a hands on approach to art than any art book available. We promise to continue to bring fresh and new talent into this site to keep artists up to date on the latest's styles and methods of producing high quality comic art." - Kevin Griffith
